Electric Toll
Collection
Revolutionizing Belize tolling: say farewell to old booths, hello to ETC solutions.

How it works
Three steps, no stopping
Electronic toll collection replaces the booth with a camera and an account. Here is the whole journey.
- 1
Drive straight through
No booth, no barrier, no queue. Keep moving at normal speed and the lane does the rest.
- 2
The camera reads your plate
An LPR camera captures and matches your license plate in under 20 milliseconds, day or night.
- 3
The crossing is billed
A toll pass is deducted from your account and the receipt appears in the Parking Solutions app.

How does License Plate Recognition (LPR) work?
The technology
What are LPR cameras?
LPR cameras are advanced traffic sensors that capture and digitalize images from license plates — a process called License Plate Recognition.
Equipped with special hardware and firmware, they recognize, capture and analyze the plate instantly, going well beyond ordinary OCR. Because they are built specifically for license plates — and for the plate design of each region — they keep working where a normal camera would fail: moving targets, very open angles, poor ambient light, fog and dirt.
A specialized LPR camera performs the entire recognition process on its own, with no external equipment or software involved.
- 20ms
- or less to read a plate
- Fast enough to work at full road speed.
- 99%+
- recognition accuracy
- Far beyond what a regular video camera can do.
- 24/7
- in real-world conditions
- Open angles, poor light, fog, rain and dirt.
